Deta was already pregnant with her first son when she met and married Mack Craft and he raised that son as his own. The biological father's last name was King. Grandmother told me about seeing Mack as one of the groomsmen at King's wedding and saying that he was the one she would marry. Based on that story, I have found in the 1910 census one Walter W. King, a. 29, married for one year to Carrie (or Cassie or Connie) W., a. 23, with a daughter, Cleo B., a. 8/12. This part of the census was taken on April 18.

Hilda and Dave were married for about 8 years before the birth of their daughter. She had a very rough pregnancy, so the doctor advised her to not have any more. In about 1959, cancer was discovered in her left breast and a radical mastectomy was performed. She lived cancer-free for about 16 or 17 years and then it returned and she died from it after a long and painful battle.

Letters from Ruth Anne (Craft) Miller to Dan Rushing.:
10/15/1997
I supplied information on the one that Helen calls Levi Richmond
Rushing, Jr. in her book but several of us in the family believe that
his father wasa Levi Evin Rushing and that L. R. was not a "Junior."
I am descended from Levi Richmond through his daughter, Deta Sarah and
her son, Houston Craft. I am Ruth Anne Craft Miller. I would offer to
share what I have, but it seems that Helen has passed it on to you
already.
Congratulations on a great site.
