[Living person information removed].

[NI04446] In the 1850 census they are living next farm from a NC and TN Davis family whose youngest Calvin age 7 was born in Alabama. Coincidence or is Andrew J. Davis a brother of Frances?

[NI04475] Marion Daily Republican:

MRS. L. HUNTER PASSED AWAY

Young Mother Died in Herrin Hospital following the Birth of Son Friday.

Mrs. Eunice F. Hunter, wife of Lee Hunter of 710 North Johnston Street died in the Herrin hospital on Satuday morning following the birth of an infant son Friday afternoon.

The deceased was born at Makanda March 26, 1900, and was the daughter of F. G. Rushing and Cora Brandon Rushing. She attended the rural schools near her home and later attended the Carbondale Normal. She was married at Progress, Kentucky, April 9, 1918, to Lee M. Hunter of Marion. The infant Lawrence Lee Hunter born Friday is her only child.

Mrs. Hunter leaves four brothers, Eldon, Robert, James, and cecil Rushing and two sisters, Margaret and Virginia Rushing, all of Carbondale.

She was a member of the First baptist church here, and held membership in the Order of Eastern Star.

Funeral services at 3:30 Sunday at the First baptist Church with Rev. M. A. Smoot in charge. Interment at the I. O. O. F. cemetery.

Note: I know that information in the news article regarding the death of Laurence Lee Hunter's mother is incorrect. It lists "Cecile" as male and the spelling is incorrect too. My Aunt Cecile (Langan) just passed away about a year ago.

[NI04492] In 1859 Davis C. Rushing was declared insane and Richard P. Rushing appointed guardian of his estate. Davis was sent to a hospital in Memphis. Mahala was still alive in July of 1871 when she was sued by R. P. Rushing suggesting that Davis has remained incompetent or something else has happened to him. Although the 1860 census lists him as living at home in Benton County.

[NI04497] This William is specifically listed as "Son of Robt." in the 1820 census. His age is listed as 26-45, but he probably is in the lower end of this age range the census indicated 1 female under 10 and one female 16-26 in his household.

[NI04566] Rushing, Stone County, Arkansas was settled by Ephraim Owen Rushing and his family in about 1873. Ephraim was born in Calloway County, Kentucky on 9 Oct 1839 and died, 29 Aug 1910 in Rushing, Stone County, Arkansas. Census 1850 and 1870 show he was living in Johnson County, Illinois. Ephraim was a Sargent in the Union Army and fought at Vicksburg. He was the first postmaster in Rushing, Arkansas.

[NI04692] The family of Peter is based on tentative conclusions and speculations of descendant Lee Rushing of
Port Charles, Florida, outlined in letters dated January 26 and May 27, 1993, to David Donahue, and on the research of the late Georgia Maxwell Cox, Ozark, Illinois. Peter seems to have six sons, two daughters, and a wife in the 1820 census. Census data in 1830 in Bedford Co., Tennessee: 21113001-1101201.

So he moved to Bedford Co., TN, before 1820 and was in Calloway Co., KY, in 1840. He probably died in Johnson Co., IL. Most of Peter's descendants are in southern Illinois. However, one line of descendants eventually moved back to Tennessee, settling variously in Perry, Decatur, and Dyer Cos. The Rushings at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Decatur Co. are Peter's descendants.

If Abraham is not the sixth son of Peter, who is? is there a better fit for Abraham? do you have another idea? Click here- please write.

[NI04693] Dennis Rushing was a corporal in captain Gray's Company of the Second Regiment of the Tennessee Militia infantry in the War of 1812. He was one of the first settlers in Benton County and settled in what is now the Rushing Creek community.

Online at: http://www.tnyesterday.com/families/rushing/dennisrushing.html This website is the preserved work of David L Donahue ("from the research of Norma Rushing Roberts and Bill Rushing"). It should be checked against records before adding it to your own family tree.

[NI04696] There is no 1870 census listing for this Asa Rushing.
