Mr. Rushing,
I enjoyed the genealogical information about Charles L. Rushing posted on www.rushings.info His wife was Martha Redmond, not Martha Redding. Martha was my great-grandfather's sister. Here is how she appeared in the 1850 United States Census:
GEORGE AND AILSY REDMOND
1850 United States Census – October 8, Jasper County, Mississippi
George W. Redmond, 50, farmer, b. NC
Ailsy, 40, b. SC

Sarah Anne, 15, b. Alabama
Elizabeth, 13, b. Alabama
Eliza Anne, 11, b. Alabama
William, 9, b. Alabama
Neicy, 6, b. Mississippi
Wyatt, 3, b. Mississippi
Charles and Martha Rushing are buried in Coalville Cemetery, Woolmarket, Mississippi with headstones and birth / death dates:
Charles L. Rushing
Mar. 4, 1822
June 13, 1897
Martha Rushing
June 12, 1831
May 20, 1877
I am touch with Thomas and Judith Morris of Austin, Texas, who can confirm the Rushing-Redmond marriage. Thomas is a Rushing descendant.
Thanks for adding the names of Charles and Martha's children to the Internet. I didn't have that list.
Best wishes,

Amy,
I was doing some genealogical research on the Rushing family and came across your Posting on this web asking for information on Elijah Ellison Rushing born in Union County
NC on or about 1882.
Elijah Rushing was my Grandfather and Delilah Purser was my Grandmother! My father (Boyce Caldwell Rushing) is not listed as one of the children on your list but is definitely one of their children. Earl, Carl, Roscoe, Aubrey are my uncles whom I haven't seen in years! My dad was born in Union County NC on April 28, 1907 he died in May of 1958 and is buried in Ocala, Florida (Marion County). My Great Uncle Jack Purser is also buried in Ocala, he was brother to Delilah and believe it or not was married to my Mothers Sister! (my mother is Sara Katherine 'Balliet' Rushing who was born in Jan 3, 1919 in Ocala and is still alive) Uncle Jack was married to Pearl 'Balliet' Purser who is also buried in Ocala. I have been looking for a way to reach all of my aunts and uncles to start some kind of family reunion.
Any further information would be greatly appreciated!

Comments: I was delighted to find lots of Rushing information. I am a great great great
granddaughter of Larkin and Nancy Rushing of McNairy County, Tennessee, and a great great
granddaughter of John and Frances Rushing who moved to Wise County, Texas. My great grandmother
was Mary Caroline Rushing and her older sister was Sarah Rushing, daughters of John and
Frances. They are not listed among the family of John and Frances. I can provide a copy of the
1860 census which lists them. The family list was probably derived from the 1880 census and
they were both married by that time.

Dear Dan,
I was excited to see that you're a descendant of Larkin and Nancy. I recently met a fourth cousin here
in Chickasha who is a descendent of Thomas, also a son of Larkin and Nancy. Do you have any connection with Durant, Oklahoma? My great great grandparents, John
and Frances, lived in Wise County, Texas, in the Decatur area. I found them in Hill County on the 1880
Census. My grandmother was born in Comanche County which is where Thomas and his family settled.
I just returned from McNairy and Hardin County, Tennessee. I didn't know much when I went so I'm still
piecing it together.
Three of the daughters of John and Frances married and came to Oklahoma around 1900: Mary Caroline Hendrix, Julia Wilson, Sarah Goehs. They settled in the Grady-Caddo Counties area. A son lived at Lawton.
I'll get together what I can and send it to you. Is snail mail acceptable?
