Robert D. Rushing, 73, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2009, at his home in Center. He was born March 30, 1936 in Center to Robert D. Rushing, Sr. and Maude Clark Rushing. Mr. Rushing was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Sam Samford Masonic Lodge #149. He was also a member of the Lone Star Dutch Oven Society and the James Church of Christ.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, December 14, 2009 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00, Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at Watson & Sons Chapel in Center with Jimmy Clark officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center.

Pallbearers will be Roger Justus, Colton Rhame, Richard Benavides, Chris Davis, Bubba Shofner, Billy Bob Warr and Bobby Warr. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Chandler, R. O. Warr, Lowman Russell and Melvin Tomlin.

Judy Bridges Rushing, 71, of Center, passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at a Tyler hospital. She was born September 18, 1938 in Dallas to Lawrence Payne Bridges and Gladys Doggett Bridges. Mrs. Rushing was a member of First Christian Church, the Center Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, and the Eta Rho Sorority.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Friday, November 13, 2009 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, November 14, 2009 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center with John Walker officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Davis, Bubba Shofner, Roger Justus, Richard Benavides, Billy Warr, and Chris Snider. Honorary pallbearers Charlie Chandler and Malcolm Weaver.

Beatrice Harrington, 82

A service wil be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the former First Pentecostal Church
on Texas Street in Durant for Beatrice Harrington, 82, Durant, who died
Sunday, Nov. 7, 2004, at the Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma. Rev.
Freddy Waldrep will officiate.

The daughter of Joseph and Laura A. (Church) Rushing, she was born in
Bennington Aug. 13, 1922. She married Burl James Harrington Sept. 10, 1937
in Durant.

A lifelong resident of Bryan County, she was a homemaker who enjoyed going
to church and church functions. She loved watching birds and kids.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Lonzo Rushing; sister
Tincy Coletti; sons Lonnie, Charles and Larry Harrington; and daughters
Louellen and Evelyn Harrington.

She is survived by her husband of the home; sons Kenneth Harrington,
Durant, Curtis Harrington, Whitewright, Texas, Jerry Harrington, Durant;
daughters Gaylene Wadkins, Bakersfield, Calif., Elizabeth Toone, Durant;
brothers Hurshel Rushing, Williams, Calif., Phil Rushing, Bakersfield,
James Rushing, Bakersfield; sister Lillie Mae Harrington, Bakersfiel
grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Burial will be in Jackson Cemetery with James Harrington Sr., James
Harrington Jr., Charles Harrington, Joey Harrington, William Toone, Charles
Toone, Matthew Toone and Larry Harrington Jr. serving as pallbearers.

Family hour will be from 6-7 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

Coffey-Murray Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Pioneer Local Matron Dies
Mrs. Manerva Graham, 74, wife of V. Y. Graham, died Saturday afternoon at her home here of complications which followed an attack of influenza several months ago. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2:30 p. m. from the Jerue Funeral home. The Reverend Orville Dennis officiated and interment was made in Fairview cemetery.

Manerva Rushing was born August 28, 1864 in Kentucky, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wright Rushing. The family moved to Tennesse and Missouri before coming West in 1881. They settled near Cheney.

She was employed at the court house here at the time of her marriage to Virgil Graham on March 19, 1885. She went as a bride to the Graham homestead located west of town in the Graham Flat district, and lived there until four years ago when they moved to Cheney. Mr. and Mrs. Graham celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary while still living on the homestead. She had belonged to the Baptist church since childhood.

Surviving are her husband at the home; one daughter, Mrs. Elmer Marsh of route 1; a sister, Mrs. Rose Sanders of Vancouver, and a brother, D. Rushing of Aberdeen.

Pall bearers were Alex Huse, Walter Powell, H. L. bowers, W. J. Sutton, J. F. Davis and F. W. Reuter.

CHILLICOTHE - Lavurn Rushing, 80, died Friday, Aug. 31, 2001.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church. Burial
will be in Chillicothe Cemetery by Manard Funeral Home.

Mrs. Rushing was born Jan. 8, 1921, in Wapanucka, Okla., a daughter of
the late Henry Harrison Ballard and Mary Alice Spencer Huff Ballard.
She married Orban Rushing on Dec. 16, 1939, in Oklahoma.

Survivors include five daughters, Renda Barry of Chillicothe, Betty
Collins of Mineral Wells, Kathie Bucchi of Burkburnett, Pam Houck of
Vernon and Jenell Coats of Quanah; three sons, G.H. Rushing and Glen
Rushing, both of Amarillo, and Bruce Rushing of Olney; two sisters,
Eva Mae Hall of Atoka, Okla., and Wardner Payne of Glencoe, Okla.; a
brother, Bruce Huff of Glencoe; 33 grandchildren; 18
great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
